Kate Gosselin is preparing for a quiet Thanksgiving this year — and it reportedly won’t include any of her eight children.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum recently shared in a TikTok video that her holiday plans look very different these days. According to the reality star, she doesn’t expect to celebrate the November holiday with any of the children she shares with ex-husband Jon Gosselin.
Planning a Low-Key Holiday
In the Oct. 22 clip, Kate explained that distance and college schedules have made family gatherings tricky. “Some of the kids have plans—we’re far away from home,” she said, adding that many of them “don’t have enough time off” from school to travel.
Instead, Kate revealed she’ll spend the day with her boyfriend, Steve, whom she’s been dating for over a year. The pair reportedly discussed keeping things simple this Thanksgiving. “I asked him what he wanted to do for Thanksgiving,” she said with a laugh, noting that she expected he might suggest “takeout or an already-made meal.”
However, Kate joked that Steve had a more energetic idea, teasing her about her recent leg surgery. “He said, ‘I don’t know, maybe we could go dancing,’” she recalled, calling him “so rude” as he smiled off-camera.
Reflecting on Family Distance
Though she appears at peace with the idea of a quiet holiday, Kate has previously opened up about how difficult it was when her eldest daughters, Mady and Cara, 25, left for college in 2019.
“I unhealthily pretended for the first three months that they were just upstairs sleeping,” she shared in an August TikTok video. “I couldn’t accept that they had left, and I wouldn’t see them until the holidays.”
Kate and Jon’s sextuplets — Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel, now 21 — are also mostly out on their own. While most attend school closer to home, Kate has been open about her estrangement from Collin following his past allegations of abuse, which her attorney previously denied, telling Fox News, “The record speaks for itself.”

What’s Next for the Gosselins?
For now, it seems Kate is focused on enjoying a calm holiday with her partner as her children continue to navigate adult life.
Whether her family reunites later in the season remains to be seen, but for now, Kate appears content with her quieter, more private celebrations.
