Kylie Jenner Reflects on Her Controversial Gold Dress from Justin and Hailey Bieber’s Wedding

Kylie Jenner is looking back at one of her most talked-about fashion moments — and she has no regrets.

During the Oct. 22 episode of Vogue’s “Life in Looks” series, the Kardashian star reflected on the attention she received after wearing a striking gold gown to Hailey and Justin Bieber’s 2018 wedding.

“People Were a Little Upset”

“I think people were a little upset that I went all out,” Kylie, 28, admitted. “But [Hailey and Justin] didn’t care, I don’t think? Hailey, call me if you have an issue.”

The Kylie Cosmetics founder, who shares two children—Stormi, 7, and Aire, 3—with ex Travis Scott, arrived at the star-studded ceremony in a melted gold gown by J’Aton Couture. She completed the bold look with a crystal butterfly hairpin and a matching purse, giving her ensemble a fairytale twist.

Fans Had Mixed Reactions

While fashion enthusiasts praised the daring look, some social media users felt it was a bit too glamorous for a wedding guest.

“I can’t believe Kylie Jenner wore that gold-painted tin foil dress to Justin’s wedding,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another quipped that a guest pulling “a move like this at my wedding… will be escorted out with a red wine stain down the front of their dress.”

No Regrets for King Kylie

Despite the online chatter, Kylie said she still loved the look. “I think I had the impression that people were going to go all out,” she recalled. “I loved this look. I had one of the best nights. I was the last one to leave the wedding.”

The Khy founder—who’s currently dating actor Timothée Chalamet—may have retired that gold gown, but she recently brought back another iconic era: her “King Kylie” persona from 2015.

To mark the 10th anniversary of Kylie Cosmetics, the beauty mogul relaunched some of her most beloved products, including her signature lip kits.

“This King Kylie Collection is truly for you!!!” she wrote in an Oct. 12 Instagram post. “You’re the reason my biggest cosmetic dreams came true, and I wouldn’t be here 10 years later without your support.” Golden gown might not return to her closet anytime soon, it remains one of her most memorable red-carpet-worthy moments — even if it wasn’t technically on a red carpet.
